Welcome to ELT Labs!
The website serves as a workshop and information hub, and also
a resource for people who are teaching English abroad, or overseas.
The aim is to provide insight and tips on how to prepare for an
ELT job, how to travel in the regions teaching English as a foreign
language ( TEFL ) / teaching English as a second language ( ESL
), with specifics on Budapest, Hungary, and also on Japan, mainly
Tokyo.
"How to get ready for your abroad ELT job way before you arrive,
a.k.a. the knew before you went so it wasn't all that hard to accommodate..."
-- for short.

ESL, TEFL abroad and overseas for aspiring ELTs
I'm devoting this website to the ambition I share with many fellow
English Teachers in the world, to provide and gather the necessary
information in this workshop one would need to travel around the
world teaching English. As idealistic it sounds to some, it is indeed
something you need to prepare for, both mentally and financially
as it can turn out to be a real disappointment for those inexperienced
in the local ELT job scene, finding accommodation, gathering the
necessary papers and VISAs. It's a LOT tougher than it seems, but
if you plan your departure well ahead, based on reliable information,
the idea just won't stand a chance of going wrong. Except if one
expected a free lunch... for work is work wherever you are.
ELT Labs is a collaboration of me and friends, sharing research,
Teaching Programs, tools for e-learning and training, materials
to download, and also travel tips -- budget travel tips to be more
specific -- people's ideas, articles all gathered in this workshop.
Advice for all the aspiring ESL and TEFL sector employees seeking
jobs ( members of ELT labs have their own ambitions of course ).
Good luck to all, or better yet, be prepared so that luck would
have as little to do with the flow of events as possible.
In order to keep the website fresh, both my own and collaborators'
information will be posted regularly. But in case you have anything
to add, warn or ask about, don't hesitate to contact me!
